Tomorrow, Thursday, May 21, from noon-2 p.m. you can turn in laptops, books or other school items and collect career passports and whatever you had left behind. You will also be able to pay fees and collect refunds. Please enter at the high school front office. We ask that you wear masks and practice social distancing. It is our intent to make an announcement regarding our senior recognition ceremony in the coming days. Comments (-1) Alumni Celebration Cancelled Due to the COVID-19 restrictions, we are forced to cancel the May 21 alumni celebration at the West Enon Road campus. We apologize to all of our alumni and former staff, but social distancing requirements prohibit large crowds. Comments (-1) End of Year Information Posted PARENTS AND STUDENTS! A mailing is on its way that spells out procedures regarding the end of the school year. We have set May 18 and 19 as days for students to pick up personal items and drop off laptops, books, etc. Instructions on how to set up a time are included in the mailing. Also included are instructions for seniors to come by the Greene Room to get a free photo taken in their cap and gown. Pictures will be mailed directly home sometime in June. We also have free Class of 2020 yard signs for our seniors and signs for National Technical Honor Society members! During students' visits to campus, strict social distancing measures will be expected. If you have any questions after receiving the mailing, please call the Career Center. Comments (-1) The May 13, 2020 Board of Education meeting will be held at the regular 5:30 p.m. time. This will be a virtual meeting pursuant to amendments to Ohio's Open Meeting Act contained in HB 197. To view the meeting go to www.facebook.com/GreeneCCC Comments (-1) End of Year Information Last week, Governor DeWine announced that this school year will continue with an on-line learning format. GCCC will maintain the current schedule of instruction previously posted. It is imperative that students continue to complete assignments. No new assignments will be made after May 8 and all will be due by May 18. We want to be certain that all students remain on track for graduation. Please make sure your students are continuing to follow the directions and that they complete assignments. A document has been posted below and on our Facebook page that provides guidelines on various issues. Very soon, we will share information on a pick-up and drop-off day for students. Unfortunately, based on the social distancing requirements we must cancel the GCCC prom. Due to state mandates, our May 19 graduation has been cancelled. On Friday, we received information that the Ohio Department of Education is urging only virtual graduation ceremonies. However, we have secured a July 25th date in hopes this can change. When more guidance is provided by the Governor, we will communicate more information. The July 25th ceremony is scheduled for the Nutter Center at 6 p.m. Comments (-1) New Schedule Announced As we continue learning through a new remote instructional format we have been gathering feedback from teachers, students, and parents as well as engaging in discussions with other local schools and career centers throughout the state. We have decided to modify our schedule starting April 6 to provide a more sustainable and authentic learning experience for all students. Students will only be given assignments by teachers on specific days. For example, on Mondays a student’s math, social studies, and lab teachers will create assignments for students. On Wednesday there will be no new assignments given but teachers have the opportunity to connect with small groups to provide additional support or to communicate with parents regarding progress. The schedule has been emailed to all students and is posted on the Greene County Career Center website and the school’s Facebook page. If a student has any questions, please feel free to reach out to their teachers for further explanation. Comments (-1) April Board Meeting The Greene County Career Center Board of Education will hold its regular monthly meeting virtually on Wednesday, April 8 at 5:30 p.m. It can be seen via Facebook Live at www.facebook.com/GreeneCCC. Comments (-1) Schoology Experiencing Occasional Issues Due to heavy traffic, Schoology is having occasional accessibility issues. Students can contact their teachers via email and continue to check the Schoology site.
